Hello, thanks for checking us out. Coming soon I will be posting much of the great food I have been eating and new foods that I am yet to enjoy. Here is a short smattering of what is yet to come.
This is the four choice barbeque plate from Jim 'n Nicks Bar-B-Q. This sitdown style restaurant looked the part of a chain with all the kitsch but when the food came out I realized that they knew 'Q'. The pork and brisket were as expected but the ribs were delicious and the sausage had a pop you don't normally get with a slow smoke. The ham was smokey yet discreetly sweet. Cheddar cornbread is served as a starter and the sides were wonderful (try the creamed spinach). Located at 915 Odum Rd, Gardendale, Alabama, this was an unexpected find.
This monstrosity is known as
the Empire Stack. It is about nine inches high and is stuffed full of goodness. Three slices of your choice of bread layered with corned beef, shaved virginia ham, smoked turkey, beef bologna, pastrami, genoa salami, cheddar and swiss cheeses, lettuce, tomato, and pickles. All this for about 10 bucks!!! This bohemith can be found at Barry's New York Deli in the North Market in downtown Columbus Ohio. This is definatly a two hander.
It is also a great sandwich to share, but remember if you do there won't be the other half to eat later on. (Barry is from New York and sells Sabretts hot dogs)

For this lovely plate we had to go all the way to the Big Easy. After watching the Saints win the Super Bowl we swung by Pierre Maspero's at 440 St. Charles, New Orleans Louisiana. This dish was the perfect fish, seasoned just spicy enough not to over power the delicate redfish. The beans and rice were creamy yet the rice still had a firmness to it. The only disappointment was the seasonal vegetables. Look for more reviews from Pierre Maspero's. One of the better meals we had.
Enjoy the photos and feel free to leave questions or comments. I am going to get this site updated as quickly as possible so by the end of the week all posts will be current.
